How do I get an article that the CSUEB doesn't have?

Answer

There are two main ways to request an article or book that the Library doesn't have: Option 1) Login to and request it within OneSearch or Option 2) Login and request it through our ILL Form.

Option 1 - Search in OneSearch

On the Library's homepage, search for the article title in the search box. If the article does not come up, click the "expand your search" link above the search results where it says "Didn't find what you were looking for? Click here to expand your search", as in the screenshot below.

Expand your search

If the article still does not appear in the results, click the "Still didn't find what you were need? Click here to send a request" above the results and fill out the request form.

If the article does appear in the list of results, click on the article title or the "Get it for me from other libraries" link. Then, click the "Sign in for more options" button, which will prompt you to login with your NetID and password. Here, you can request the article be scanned and emailed to you. See screenshot below.

Option 2 - InterLibrary Loan (ILL) Form

For articles or books that do not appear when you search All CSU+ Collections, you can request the article through the Interlibrary Loan service, and the Library will get it for you.

  1. Log into the Interlibrary Loan form.
  2. Select Book or Article, depending on what you are requesting.
  3. Fill out the request form. Give as much of the publication information as possible including: Author, Title, Publisher, Date, and Journal information (name, volume, issue), if applicable.
  4. Make sure to hit the Send Request button
  5. Requests that cannot be filled will be returned to you via email with an explanation
  6. View the current status of your requests & request renewals by logging on to your library account.

For articles and book chapters, it takes 1 - 3 days to deliver scans. You will receive an email when the article is ready.

Additional information about ILL service

ILL fees and fines
ILL is free of charge for Cal State East Bay students, staff, and faculty. However the shipping, processing costs and miscellaneous fees incurred by the ILL process are paid by the University Libraries. You are liable for lost, damaged or overdue material. The lending library will determine the costs, fines and processing fees.
